Slightly Foxed, Berwick
Books, prints and more
Slightly Foxed is an independent bookshop in Berwick Upon Tweed and was originally established in the town's Charter Market by Dr Simon Heald, before relocating to Bridge Street. In 2021 the business was taken over by Lisa Hobman and Claire Morton and is still a well-loved shop, on a vibrant and popular street, amongst an eclectic mix of wonderful businesses.

About us
Claire Morton
I live in a busy household with 3 sons, 2 greyhounds and a husband!
My main passion is textiles, having studied the subject at university and worked in the industry for several years.
I love books and to read, when I find time.
I don't have a favourite genre, I can be swayed by a recommendation, interview, article or even the cover to try a book.
Authors I have enjoyed include Roddy Doyle, David Nicholls, Kate Atkinson, Maggie O'Farrell and Jody Piccoult, but there are many many others.
In my life before children, I enjoyed travelling so I am inspired by books that conjure up the atmosphere, sights and sounds of places I have visited or hope to in the future.
As well as lots of novels waiting to be read, my house is full of fashion, textiles and crafting books which I have accumulated over the years.
Lisa Hobman
As well as being a wife, and a mum to one adult and two dogs, I’m a bestselling contemporary fiction author, published by Boldwood Books in London. I started writing when my family and I relocated to Scotland in 2012 and now have fifteen books published, the majority of which feature Scotland as the central location.
Although I write romantic stories I actually love to read a variety of genres but mainly crime and suspense novels. I love books by Lisa Jewell, Ann Cleeves and Lulu Taylor.
The books that influenced me most as a child were Wuthering Heights (my mum’s favourite book and the one that made me fall in love with storytelling), The Catcher in the Rye (I loved the teen angst) and pretty much anything by Judy Blume and Betsy Byers.
Even though my reading tastes have changed over the years I still love to fall into a fictional world and be sucked into the lives of the characters, where my imagination can run wild and whole new worlds are created.
